Hosting Matters Cpanel

Is it better to host an email account through cpanel with a web host or with a domain registrar?

I am a novice in web design, and work in the construction of some small personal websites. I'm building a site for a friend who already has one email account with 1 & 1 Internet Services. I'm using a hosting service independent of, and I wonder whether it is better to leave your email with 1 & 1 or move when I can redirect domain. Is it generally better to have email hosted on the same site as the website itself rather than through domain registration, or does it matter?

It is usually best to do nothing with the registrar but the domain registration. Hosting should be done with another company – all housing, including mail mail. (It is a matter of being held hostage if you want something moved.)
